Karnataka medical student Naveen shot dead in Ukraine
India Student Naveen has been shot dead in Ukraine’s Kharkiv, said reports. According to reports, Karnataka medical student Naveen shot dead in Ukraine. He was the 4th year student of Kharkiv Medical University Naveen Shekhararappa Gyanagoudar.
Naveen SG, from Chalageri in Karnataka was shot dead by Russian Forces in front of Super Market. He was 21. External Affairs Ministery Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi confirmed the news and said that the Indian student lost his in the on-going shelling in Kharkiv this morning.
According to Naveen’s hostel mat, he was shot dead around 10.30 am Ukrainian time while he was standing in the queue before a grocery shop when suddenly the Russian army fired at people. Following this incident, MEA said that the Government is in touch with his family. They also conveyed their deepest condolences.
Earlier in the day, Indian Embassy in Ukraine advised all the Indian nationals including students to leave Kyiv urgently. Also, videos showed that extensive damages have been done from the Russian military attack. One video that is doing round son social media showed the city’s largest government building blown up.
Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States and human rights groups have accused Russia of using cluster bombs and vacuum bombs on Ukrainians as the war rages in and around Kyiv. The weapons have been condemned by a variety of international organisations including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.
The organisations said that Russian forces appeared to have used widely banned cluster munitions, with Amnesty accusing them of attacking a preschool in northeastern Ukraine while civilians took shelter inside. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, accused that Moscow had used a thermobaric weapon, known as a vacuum bomb.
