Here are the first pictures of the production-ready Innova Zenix Hybrid by Kompas Otomotif, which will be known as the Innova HyCross in India.Toyota has worked to add more muscles to the Innova HyCross. With the redesigned front-end and strong character lines on the bonnet, the upcoming MPV sure looks much more substantial than the current version of the car.
The side profile of the of the Toyota Innova Hycross looks very different from the current version with triangular rear quarter glasses, while it also has slightly squared wheel arches with body cladding over them. The door panels also get prominent creases over them, though we are not sure if the production version of the MPV will have them or not.
At the back too, the new Innova Hycross will get a heavily-redesigned boot lid with two-part combination LED tail lamps on the lower corners of the rear windscreen.
What will power the next-generation Innova HyCross?
While it is not clear whether the new Innova Hycross will retain the design highlights of these digital renderings, Toyota has hinted that the new version of the Innova will have some radical changes under the skin. Touted to be based on the TNGA platform, the new Innova Hycross will get a monocoque construction for the first time, a huge departure from the ladder-on-frame construction of the Innova Crysta.
Another big change in the new Toyota Innova Hycross, as compared to the Innova Crysta, is the replacement of the 2.4-litre diesel engine with an all-new petrol-hybrid powertrain. The new Innova Hycross will be a petrol-only MPV, with it having a petrol-hybrid powertrain based around a 1.8-litre Atkinson petrol engine under its hood. It is the same engine which is available in the hybrid versions of the Corolla Altis and Corolla Cross in overseas markets.
Several reports suggest that Toyota will officially unveil the car in India on 25th November 2022. However, before that, the Indonesian market will get the new updated version of the new model. Toyota will officially unveil the car on 17th November 2022 in Indonesia.
